Garner Pickleball and Tennis Courts Remain Busy

Recreational facilities are remaining very busy after their renovations were completed earlier this summer. Garner Mayor Tim Schmidt recently offered his observations to the city council on the popularity of the facilities.

Director of Parks and Recreation Karla Juenger-Rudisill confirmed what the problem was.

Rudisill also pointed out another issue that need to be dealt with.

The city wants to make sure everyone can utilize the facilities and is asking everyone to be responsible in leaving the equipment and balls at the courts.

The council will meet again on Tuesday at 5:30pm. They will get the chance to meet the new K-9 unit and discuss new cameras and supporting equipment for the police department.

The council will consider Dornbier Trucking’s Tax Abatement application for their new shop at 100 Prairie Energy Drive.

Councilmembers will also consider approval of the Brookshire Company invoice for $2,500 for
Garner to be a member of the Community Venture Network, an economic development
group that brings industrial prospects and municipalities together.

With the swimming pool season coming to an end, annual repairs will need to be done and the council will consider a project estimate for $3,220 to caulk the pool. It involves 230 feet at $14 a foot.

Finally the council will consider the Garner Hayfield Ventura Homecoming Parade permit and learn more about the Laborshed Study in Hancock County.
