Garner Has a New Police Dog

The Garner Police Department has a new K-9 Police recruit in Ranger. He made his official appearance before the Garner City Council on Tuesday night. According to Garner Police Chief Tim Dodge, Ranger has made an excellent recruit so far and is a compliment to the current K-9 officer Turbo.

Turbo has served the Garner Police Department well with his enthusiasm and work ethic according to Dodge.

Ranger comes to Garner at a reduced price of $4,000 after an unnamed police department opted not to take him. Chief Dodge explained what that price included.

Police and Sheriff’s Departments work hand in hand on a number of cases. Dodge stated that the city and Hancock County have an agreement to make full use of the K-9 Units when necessary.

Ranger joins a number of area police dogs in Mason City, Clear Lake, Britt, Winnebago and Hancock County.
