Lake Mills girl airlifted to Rochester hospital after UTV accident

LAKE MILS — An 11-year-old Lake Mills girl has been hospitalized after a UTV accident over the weekend.
The Iowa State Patrol says they were called out at about 5:30 on Saturday night to the private pond. They say the driver’s side tires of a 2018 Polaris Ranger had entered the bank of the pond, causing the UTV to roll onto its side.
The driver, identified as 11-year-old Mae Helgeson, was pinned under the UTV at the time. Life saving measures were performed and Helgeson was transported to the Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Rochester by MercyOne Airmed.
Helgeson’s condition was not immediately released.
