Lt. Governor Adam Gregg announces resignation, will lead Iowa Bankers Association
DES MOINES — Iowa’s Lieutenant Governor resigned late on Tuesday afternoon to become the next president and CEO of the Iowa Bankers Association.
In a written statement, Governor Kim Reynolds stated that Adam Gregg wanted to spend more time with his family and statewide office forced him to miss more of his kids’ lives that he could accept. After Reynolds’ announcement, the Iowa Bankers Association made the announcement that Gregg would be their new president and CEO.
The person currently holding that position, John Sorenson, will be retiring at the end of the year after leading the Iowa Bankers Association for 38 years. The 41-year-old Gregg will join the association on October 1st to allow for a smooth transition.
According to Iowa Code, the governor will make an appointment to fill a vacancy in the office with the appointee serving for the balance of the unexpired term. Until Governor Reynolds makes that appointment later this fall, the President of the Senate Amy Sinclair will be next in line of succession.
