Garner-Hayfield-Ventura district voters to decide on PPEL renewal Tuesday

GARNER — Voters in the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura School District head to the polls on Tuesday to decide whether or not to renew the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.

Voters will be considering whether or not to renew the PPEL at the existing rate of 67-cents per $1000 of taxable property value.

GHV officials say the $450,000 of revenue generated annually by the PPEL levy would go towards projects such as: repairing and replacing roofs; maintaining HVAC systems; school security improvements; technology purchases; replacing school buses; and additional key facilities projects.

The levy must be renewed every ten years, with a simple majority needed to pass.

Cerro Gordo County voters in the school district will vote at the Ventura Community Center, while all the voters from Hancock County in the school district will vote at the Garner Public Library.

Polls in the district will be open Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
