Mason City man rescued after kayak capsizes on Clear Lake over the weekend

CLEAR LAKE — A Mason City man refused medical treatment after a water rescue over the weekend in Clear Lake.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department late Monday released information about the incident on Saturday night shortly after 11 o’clock. They along with the Clear Lake Fire Department were called to the Bluebill Wildlife Area located at 14369 Indigo Avenue for a man who had capsized his kayak while out fishing.

The man was identified as Sing Lai Luong of Mason City. The Clear Lake Fire Department used their rescue boat to bring Luong back to shore without incident.

Luong, who was wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident, was seen by medics at the scene but refused treatment.
