Two taken to hospital after house explosion in rural Kossuth County

WEST BEND — Two people were injured after a house exploded in rural Kossuth County on Monday morning.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department says they received the report of a house exploding near West Bend at about 9:00 AM.

One resident, 44-year-old Catherine Fleischhacker, was located by first responders under debris and was transported to a hospital with undetermined injuries. Another resident, 21-year-old Brett Lanning, was able to crawl out of the debris and was also transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
