Almost 90% approve Garner-Hayfield-Ventura PPEL renewal

GARNER — Voters in the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura School District have overwhelmingly approved the renewal of the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.

By a 364-42 vote, or almost 90% approval, voters approved renewing the PPEL at the existing rate of 67-cents per $1000 of taxable property value. That levy must be renewed by district voters every ten years.

GHV officials before the vote stated that the $450,000 of revenue generated annually by the PPEL levy would go towards projects such as: repairing and replacing roofs; maintaining HVAC systems; school security improvements; technology purchases; replacing school buses; and additional key facilities projects.
