Clear Lake 9/11 ceremony takes place tonight

CLEAR LAKE — The annual Clear Lake Fire Department 9/11 Memorial event will take place this evening outside of the fire station at the World Trade Center Memorial Steel display.

Assistant Chief Mike Keefe says the guest speaker will be Ron Billings of Clear Lake.   “A gentleman that now is living in Clear Lake is going to be speaking at that. He and his wife were in New York, stood there and watched everything happen in 2001, so he’s going to give a little talk on that, so it should be kind of interesting.”

Keefe says there will be many activities taking place at the event.  “It’s going to be fun. We the speaker, we’ll have the high school band be part of that, we have a solo, and we will have the process around the lake again this year, so we’re looking forward to that.”

Keefe says they are inviting surrounding law enforcement, EMS and fire departments to participate in the procession around the lake after the ceremony, which starts at 6:00 PM.
