Grassley comments on second Trump assassination attempt

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden came out on Monday and said the Secret Service needs more help after Sunday’s apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

While not totally agreeing with the president, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley told us during an interview on Monday that if more support is needed, he’s in favor.  “I agree that they aren’t doing a very good job, and if it’s proven that they need more help, other than just the bureaucrats telling us that, then I think we have to protect our people. You can’t have our political leaders threatened with assassination all the time.”

Grassley thinks it’s quite funny that two assassination attempts have happened in the last few months to Trump.  “Obviously somebody wants him out of the race. They filed six court cases against him in a politically motivated effort to keep him out of the race or get him defeated. I’m not saying they are connected in any way to these assassination attempts, but somebody, if it’s not Democrats, there’s somebody who doesn’t want Trump to be President of the United States again.”

Secret Service agents fired at a man armed with a rifle on or near the Trump International golf course near West Palm Beach Florida on Sunday, with the man later being arrested. The FBI said it was investigating the matter as a possible assassination attempt.
