Mason City man charged with drug, escape from custody charges after motorcycle stop

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has been jailed on drug and escape from custody charges.

A criminal complaint states that an officer encountered 46-year-old Curtis Anderson early Sunday morning in the area of 10th Northeast and Elm Drive, with the officer attempting to stop Anderson due to an expired registration on the motorcycle he was driving.

Anderson allegedly attempted to flee from the officer first on the motorcycle and then on foot. Anderson was taken into custody by the officer, and once they got back to the motorcycle a cigarette box was found resting next to the tipped-over motorcycle. The box allegedly contained about 5.2 grams of methamphetamine.

A separate criminal complaint states that Anderson was declared missing from the Beje Clark Residential Facility in Mason City on September 9th.

Anderson has been charged with: conspiring with the intent to manufacture or deliver meth over five grams but under five kilos, a Class B felony, as well as driving while barred, escape from custody, interference with official acts, and two counts of violating probation. He’s being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $40,000 cash-only bond.

Anderson is due in court for his preliminary hearing on September 25th.
