Wanted by authorities since 2022, man arrested in Mason City sexual abuse case

MASON CITY — After being wanted by authorities for over two years, a Plymouth man has been booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail as part of a sexual abuse case.
The Mason City Police Department filed charges in May 2022 against 26-year-old Grebil Valasquez-Bejarano after an alleged assault in November 2021. A criminal complaint states that Valasquez-Bejarano performed sexual acts to a victim that was physically incapacitated and physically helpless in a home in southeastern Mason City in the early morning hours of November 24th, 2021. Police say a DNA analysis confirmed Valasquez-Bejarano’s presence.
A nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest, with Valasquez-Bejarano being booked into jail on Wednesday evening on a third-degree sexual abuse charge, a Class C felony punishable by up to ten years in prison.
He’s being held on $10,000 cash-only bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 27th.
