NIACC’s DeLong wins second collegiate golf title of week with BVU Invite victory

STORM LAKE — NIACC freshman Megan DeLong won the Buena Vista University Fall Invitational on Sunday in Storm Lake in a one-hole playoff over Waldorf University’s Amanda Karvala. DeLong, who prepped at Clear Lake, recorded a par on the par four hole to win her second collegiate title in six days. DeLong shot a 78 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday and was tied with Karvala with a two-round total of 155 before winning the playoff. NIACC placed 10th as a team with a two-day total of 725. Central College was the team champion with a 659, with Waldorf second with a 669. NIACC returns to action on Friday at the DMACC Jim Currell Invitational at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
== NIACC freshmen Garrett Ham and Ashtin Willms tied for fifth on Sunday at the Buena Vista Fall Invitational. Both Ham and Willms shot a two-day total of 153. The Trojans’ Bennett Berger, who was the first day leader with a 68, withdrew from the tournament Sunday with a sore back. NIACC placed fifth as a team with a two-day total of 628. Loras College won the title with a 613. NIACC returns to action on Friday as they go to the Jim Currell Invitational as well in Boone.
