Carrol was born February 19, 1936 in rural Thompson, IA, the son of George and Clara (Oshiem) Rossiter. He grew up in the area, attending Thompson Country School. He found his calling during harvest and spring, spending long hours in the field, for over 70 years. On December 1, 1957 he married the love of his life, Yvonne Eva Clark at the Bethel Baptist Church in Britt. They were blessed with four children, Carmen, Connie, Christy, and Charles. The family made their home in Thompson and later Rockwell, before establishing the family farm near Nora Springs.
Carrol was a man of many talents and endless energy. Whether he was out in the fields or tending to the yard, he found fulfillment in hard work and the beauty of the land. His love for farming and time spent in the field ran deep, but nothing brought him more joy than caring for his beloved family. His dedication to his family was unwavering—Carrol was always quick with a joke or ready for a game of cards, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He was a people person through and through, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Fishing was another favorite pastime, and he cherished the quiet moments on the water, reflecting on life. Carrol’s kind heart, sense of humor, and deep love for his family, friends and church will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Carmen Langford of Lincoln, CA, Christy Rossiter of Mason City and Charles Rossiter of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Christina (Gilbert Toledo) Langford and Crystal (Josh) Antolin; great-granddaughter, Amelyha Rosenberg;as well as numerous extended family members and cherished friends.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Yvonne; daughter, Connie Rossiter; parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, siblings, Marvin Rossiter, Dennis Rossiter, Doris (Dennis) Weaver and Katherine (Bill) Swanson; son-in-law, Jim Langford and Christy’s late fiance, Dan Chizek.
