Football preview — Clear Lake, Mason City open district play, see area Week 5 schedule

CLEAR LAKE — District football starts tonight for Clear Lake and Mason City High in games you can watch here on northiowanow.com as well as listen to on the radio on 103.7 The Fox and 98.7 KISS Country:

 

== In Clear Lake tonight, the 5th-ranked Lions entertain Webster City for homecoming. The Lions concluded non-district play with a 3-1 record after a tough 31-30 loss at Waverly-Shell Rock last week. Coach Aaron Stensland says he’s been pleased with many aspects of his team, including kids who have stepped up

Webster City has dropped three straight games after beating Fort Dodge to open the season. You can hear tonight’s game on 103.7 The Fox and watch on northiowanow.com starting with the Radio Iowa Scouting Report at 6 o’clock, the pre-game gets underway at 6:15, with kickoff from Lions Field at 7 o’clock.

 

== Mason City hosts 5th-ranked Decorah in a Class 4A District 2 opener. The Riverhawks are 2-2 after routing Charles City 49-14 for homecoming last week. Coach Josh Reuter says Decorah will provide a challenge and he hopes his team can use some momentum from last week’s game for tonight.

ROCKFORD — The Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School District announced on social media on Thursday that tonight’s game between Rockford and Bishop Garrigan will not be played with Rockford forfeiting the contest. The social media announcement says Rockford does not have enough players to play this week’s game. Rockford will drop to 0-5 on the season while Bishop Garrigan improves to 5-0.
