Harriet Kuntz, 91, Mason City

Harriet Jean Kuntz, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Good Shepherd
Health Care Center on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 30, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Hogan-Bremer-
Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE Mason City, Iowa, with Reverend Kent Mechler to
officiate. Family will have a Private Burial in Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Funeral Home on
Monday.

Harriet was born on April 26, 1933, the daughter of Harry and Dorothea “Dora” (Wagner)
Christians. She was a resident of the Grafton Community until 1995 when she and Kermie
moved off the farm to Mason City.

Her faith was an integral part of her life. Harriet was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran in Grafton
on May 25, 1933 and confirmed there on March 30, 1947. In 2010 she became a member of the
Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City.

She graduated from Grafton High School in 1951 where she met Kermie. They were married on
May 24, 1953, after Kermie was discharged from the service. Kermie and Harriet farmed and
raised turkeys in the Grafton area all their married life. The couple were avid antique collectors
and enjoyed numerous fishing trips. During retirement they spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Family was her pride and joy. Harriet is survived by her sons, David (Terri) of Mason City and
Brent (Julie) of Clear Lake. Harriet loved her daughters-in-law as if they were her own. Five
grandchildren, Cassie (Clay) Shurtz, Nikki Jones, Lindsay (Nick) Wright, Tim Kuntz, and Jenna
(Logan) Cimmiyotti; great grandchildren, Colton, Claire, and Cora Shurtz, Cruz, and Jaylee
Jones, Kinlee and Landrey Wright, Brynn and Ava Cimmiyotti; sisters-in-law, Lois Westendorf
and Arliene Kuntz as well as numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Kermie; her parents, Harry and Dora Christians;
Kermie’s parents, Fred and Lydia Kuntz; her brother, Donald Christians; sisters-in-law, Joan
Christians, Neva Beach, Ella Priem, Marcella Kuntz, Laura Kuntz, Ruth Krueger, Ethel Walk,
and Pearl Rosenberg; brothers-in-law, Vernon Kuntz, Gene Kuntz, Earl Kuntz, Glenn Priem,
Clair Westendorf, Elmer Rosenberg, Albin Krueger, and Clarence Walk.
