Victim of Webster County shooting drives to Cerro Gordo County for treatment

MOORLAND — An altercation on Thursday morning that resulted in a man being shot in Webster County ended when the victim drove himself to north-central Iowa to seek treatment.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says Kaleb Meyer reported being shot during a domestic altercation with Cheyanne Guthrie at a home in the 600 block of Front Street in Moorland, which is southwest of Fort Dodge. Meyer reportedly told deputies that during the altercation, a firearm was drawn and then fired, and that he was hit by a bullet.

The sheriff’s office says Meyer left the scene and drove to a relative’s home in Cerro Gordo County, where he was then transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment.

The sheriff’s office says Guthrie is cooperating with them as they work to determine what led to the dispute and subsequent shooting.

No charges have been filed at this time.
