Water main flushing begins today in southwestern Mason City

MASON CITY — The City of Mason City will start flushing water mains in the southwestern quadrant of the community starting today.

The city says the affected area is west of Federal Avenue and south of State Highway 122. Flushing begins today and is expected to continue through Thursday October 10th.

Water customers may notice some discoloration of the water after the mains have been flushed, however, the water is safe to drink. Caution should be used when washing clothing since the discolored water may cause staining.

The public is being asked to not park near or across from fire hydrants during this time.

If you have any questions, you are asked to contact the city’s Water Supply Division at 641-421-3685.
