Burn ban now in effect in Cerro Gordo County

MASON CITY — Cerro Gordo County has been added to the list of Iowa counties that now have a burn ban in effect.
County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Whipple says the open burning ban went into effect this morning at the request of the county’s fire chiefs. He says the dry conditions combined with little rainfall in the forecast for the foreseeable future will create conditions that are not safe for open burning.
Cerro Gordo County now joins Floyd, Hancock and Wright counties in our immediate listening area as counties that have burn bans. There are 34 counties as of this morning that have a burn ban in place.
