City of Mason City’s finances strong in first quarter

MASON CITY — Mason City’s city administrator says finances continue to be strong for the city.

Aaron Burnett says that’s good with the first quarter of the city’s fiscal year just completing.  “Interest income is still staying very stable. It will hit projections if not exceed those estimates that were within the budget. So that’s good news.”

Burnett says first quarter revenue has been strong.  “Local Option Sales Tax continues to be strong as well as Hotel-Motel. It looks like our revenues will be on pace for the year from what we’re seeing so far in this fiscal year.”

Burnett made his comments during last week’s meeting of the Mason City City Council.
