NIACC volleyball splits at own tournament

MASON CITY — The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches at their own tournament on Saturday.
The Trojans started the day dropping a three sets to two decision to the Grand View University junior varsity. The Vikings won 24-26, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 15-10.
NIACC bounced back to beat the St. Ambrose JV in a three set sweep, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.
Freshman Hannah Brinkman led NIACC with 25 kills and five blocks in Saturday’s matches, while fellow freshman Megan Tobin had 21 kills, nine digs, and four blocks.
NIACC is 10-16 overall and will host Southwestern in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night.
