IHSAA releases football rankings, RPI for October 7th

BOONE — New playoff rankings for high school football’s lower classes as well as Ratings Percentage Index rankings for the upper classes were released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association on Monday.

The rankings in 2A, 1A, A, and Eight-Player would be used as a primary tool for postseason assignments while maintaining school and geographic considerations:

  5. North Linn
  6. Earlham
  7. Tri-Center
  8. LeMars Gehlen
  9. Woodbury Central
  10. Starmont

 

== Class 1A

  2. Iowa City Regina
  3. Dike-New Hartford
  4. Emmetsburg
  5. Wilton
  6. Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove
  7. South Hardin
  8. Sigourney/Keota
  9. Hinton
  10. Treynor

 

== Class 2A 

  1. West Lyon
  2. Prairie City-Monroe
  3. Spirit Lake
  4. Van Meter
  5. Carroll Kuemper
  6. Northeast Goose Lake
  7. North Fayette Valley
  8. Roland-Story
  9. Western Christian of Hull
  10. Des Moines Christian

 

== Eight-Player

  1. Lenox
  2. Algona Garrigan

RPI in the upper three classes helps to determine wild card teams at the end of each season. Looking at the top 10 statewide and any local teams that fall into the top 20:
