Dennis R. Largent, 75, Mason City

Dennis “Denny” Roy Largent passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center after his battle with Dementia. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania. Private family services will be held.
Denny was born to Roy and Beatrice (Shurson) Largent on January 3, 1949, in Mason City. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967. He was active in basketball, golf, and football. He played with the Mason City Mohawks when they were the Big 6 conference champs in 1965. Denny went to NIACC, then to Mankato State University obtaining a business degree in management. He was hired right after college with Happy Chef Restaurants. With his great business knowledge, he was promoted to Operation Manager
Denny married Denise Johnson becoming a great stepfather to Leslie and Melissa. They moved from Mason City to Mankato where their son Nicholas was born.
Upon retirement they moved back to Mason City where he worked for Pizza Ranch, Kum & Go and JC Penney. Denny loved playing golf and teaching his son and grandsons. He loved being outside with his grandchildren, which brought him joy to see them grow up.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Denise; daughters, Leslie Abbott Hoffman, and Melissa (Karl) Abbott Nelson; son, Nicholas (Catherine) Largent; grandchildren, Ashley (Dylan) Hoffman, Heather (Garrett) Hoffman, Hunter Nelson and Jameson Largent; brother, Paul (Ellen) Largent; nephews, Bob (Darla) Largent and Michael Largent; mother – in – law, Patricia Johnson; and sister-in-law, Mary Johnson.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Beatrice; father-in -law, Charles Johnson; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the family of Dennis Largent. Proceeds will be directed to the Good Shepherd Health Center, in loving memory of Dennis Largent.
Family wants to thank the staff at Good Shepherd for the great care in the memory care and all the employees that touched his and our lives.
