Latimer man in jail after Mason City house burglary

MASON CITY — A Latimer man has been jailed on burglary charges after being accused of breaking into a southwest Mason City home.
Authorities say 28-year-old Miguel Calles entered a residence through a window in the 200 block of 1st Southwest in the early morning hours of this past Tuesday with the intent to commit a theft. A complaint says Calles assaulted a female by slapping her on the face. Calles is accused of taking three cell phones from the victim.
Calles has been charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, as well as domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor. Calles is due in court for his preliminary hearing on October 18th.
He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $10,000 cash-only bond.
