Cross Country — Forest City Invite results, North Central Conference meet today

FOREST CITY — Lake Mills won the boys team title while Forest City won the girls team title at the Forest City Invitational cross country meet on Monday.
On the boys side, Lake Mills had three finish in the top five on their way to winning the team title with 38 points. Forest City was second with 51, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura was third with 52, with Newman being fourth with 121 points. Gavin Grunhovd of North Iowa was the boys race winner in a time of 16:05.
Forest City had the three top scoring runners and had all of their runners finish in the top ten in winning the girls team title with 24 points. St. Ansgar, West Hancock and Newman were bunched up in the second through fourth place spots, with the Saints being the runner-up with 86 points, the Eagles with 87 and the Knights with 88. Lauren Hillesland of North Iowa won the girls race in time of 20:04, with Bethany Warren of Forest City finishing second in 20:29.
HAMPTON — The North Central Conference cross country meet takes place at Maynes Grove County Park just south of Hampton. Clear Lake is expected to contend for both team titles, with the Lions girls being ranked #18 in Class 3A in the latest team rankings. The boys race will start at 4:55 PM, with the girls race following about 30 minutes later.
