Clear Lake sweeps NCC cross country championships for second straight year
HAMPTON — For the second year in a row, the Clear Lake cross country teams swept the North Central Conference team titles on Tuesday at Maynes Grove near Hampton.
== The Lions had four finish in the top 14 to take the girls team title for the third year in a row with 34 points. Addison Doughan won her third conference title, posting a time of 19:20. Saylor Schmitt finished second with a time of 19:55. Iowa Falls-Alden was second in the team race with 70 points, followed by Humboldt, St. Edmond, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Algona and Webster City rounding out the girls team standings.
== The Clear Lake boys had all of their scoring runners finish in the top 13 as they won the boys title with 40 points. St. Edmond was second with 68, followed by Algona, Webster City, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and Hampton-Dumont-CAL. Gavin Weber of Algona won the boys race in a time of 16:20. Gavin Roske had the best Clear Lake finish, finishing third in 17:19.
The Clear Lake program also took home the JV boys and girls team titles as well as the middle school boys team title, with the middle school girls finishing second. The JV school boys had a perfect score of 15 points and had all top seven places.
