High school football preview — lower classes wrap up regular season tonight, Clear Lake looks to stay alive in playoff race

CLEAR LAKE — It’s the final week of the regular season for football teams in Classes 2A, 1A, A and 8-Player, while Classes 3A, 4A, and 5A have another week to go prior to their entry into the postseason:
== For Clear Lake, they have a key Class 3A District 2 matchup at home against Humboldt. The Wildcats are the top team in the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s Ratings Percentage Index after they knocked off the former #1 team Algona last week 21-20. The Lions are a game back in the district race, and a win over Humboldt tonight would likely secure them a spot in the playoffs. Clear Lake coach Aaron Stensland says he’s told his team their focus needs to be on tonight’s game and not the overall playoff picture.
Humboldt is 3-0 in district play, while Clear Lake comes in tied with Algona and Webster City at 2-1 in the district, with Algona and Webster City also matching up in a key contest tonight. You can hear the Clear Lake-Humboldt game on 103.7 The Fox and watch it on northiowanow.com starting with the Radio Iowa Scouting Report at 6:00, the pre-game at 6:15, with the kickoff from Lions Field at 7 o’clock.
== For Mason City, the Riverhawks host Marion in a Class 4A District 2 game. Both teams are 2-5 overall, with Marion having a 1-2 district record with a win three weeks ago over Waterloo East, while the Riverhawks are 0-3 in the district. Mason City coach Josh Reuter says they’ll face a very talented defense tonight.
You can hear the Mason City-Marion game tonight on 98.7 KISS Country and watch it on northiowanow.com starting with the Radio Iowa Scouting Report at 6:45, the pre-game starts at 7 o’clock, with kickoff from Mason City High School scheduled for 7:30.
