Pre-registration deadline to vote in November is Monday

MASON CITY — The deadline to pre-register to vote for the November general election is this coming Monday, October 21st.
Cerro Gordo County Auditor Adam Wedmore says if a person has a driver’s license they can register online. “The simplest and easiest way is for a voter who has an Iowa driver’s license or non-operator ID permit, they can go online, the link is on our website, or else they can do a Google search for ‘Iowa voter registration’, and it will be through the Department of Transportation’s website where they’ll enter their information, they will fill out a few forms and click submit, and that information will be sent to us, and that voter will receive a voter acknowledgement card in the mail.”
Wedmore says a voter may also have a voter registration form mailed to them, they can print one off from the county auditor’s website and return it to the office, or they can stop by the auditor’s office at the courthouse. He says now is the time to also update your information if you’ve moved. “So that deadline is going to be the same on October 21st. If a voter has changed addresses or they want to change their party affiliation, again it’s the same process, the same form, the same website. We just want them to do it by October 21st at 5:00 PM because they will not have to do anything additional on Election Day besides just show their ID on who they are.”
Wedmore says if voters miss the Monday deadline they can also register to vote on Election Day if they can provide some information when they go to their voting site.
