Dean Richard Hauge, 76, of Mason City

Dean Richard Hauge, 76, of Mason City, IA passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be held 10:30am Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, 1224 S Washington Ave, Mason City, IA 50401 with Chaplain Lindsay Guyer of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. 

Visitation will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401.

Military Honors will be presented by the Mason City Honor Guard. 

Dean was born August 26th, 1948 the third child of Morris and Myrtle (Leegaard) Hauge.  He graduated from Mason City High School in 1967.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and honorably discharged in 1971.

Dean married Janice Payton on November 6, 1971, in Cresco, Iowa.  This union was blessed with two daughters, Kimberly and Kelly.

He retired from the City of Mason City, working as a sexton at Elmwood- St. Joseph Cemetery for 29 years.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards.  He was a director in the Mason City Bowling Association for several years and was inducted into the Mason City Bowling Hall of Fame.

Dean is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Kimberly (Darrin) White of Rockford, Iowa and Kelly (Brandon) Lane of New Boston, Illinois; grandchildren,   Caleb White, Carter and Lexa Lane; sister-in-law, Norma (Gene) Pecinovsky; brothers-in-law, Robert Cordle; and several nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Myrtle Hauge;  parents-in-law, Richard and Opal Payton; brother, Ronald (Candace) Hauge; sisters, Marcia Cordle and Joann (James) Holder; nephews, Tim Hauge and Eric Brooking.  

The family wants to thank all of Dean’s care givers over the last couple of years for the excellent care shown to him and his family.
