Worth County burning ban declared

NORTHWOOD — Burning bans are now in place in most of north-central Iowa’s counties. Worth County on Friday afternoon became the latest country to make the declaration.
Worth County emergency management coordinator Mark Tomlinson filed the request on Friday, with the State Fire Marshal’s office approving that upon investigation that conditions in the county are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property.
Worth County joins Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Hancock, Butler, Franklin, and Wright counties in our immediate listening area as counties that have a burn ban in place.
There are 61 of Iowa’s 99 counties that currently have a burn ban.
