Fort Dodge man arrested near Clear Lake on drug charges pleads not guilty

CLEAR LAKE — A Fort Dodge man arrested on numerous drug-related charges after a traffic stop near Clear Lake last month has pleaded not guilty.

A criminal complaint states that 61-year-old Alan Beier was pulled over for a traffic violation while driving his motorcycle at the 192 mile marker of the interstate’s southbound lanes on the evening of September 14th.

The complaint states that Beier admitted to having a methamphetamine pipe on him as well as meth, cocaine and marijuana in the motorcycle’s saddleback. On further investigation, the officer stated that Beier had 10 grams of cocaine in two baggies, 235 grams of meth in multiple bags, 82 grams of marijuana packaged in several small bags placed in one bag, and several empty baggies in his possession.

Beier was charged with intent to manufacture or deliver meth, a Class B felony; conspiring with the intent to deliver under 100 grams of cocaine, a Class C felony; intent to deliver marijuana as well as three drug tax stamp violations and one count of OWI, all Class D felonies; as well as driving while revoked.

Beier was due in court for his arraignment hearing on Monday but filed a written plea of not guilty late last week in Cerro Gordo County District Court. His trial is scheduled to start on  November 19th. He remains in jail on a total of $35,000 bond.
