Cross Country — Clear Lake girls qualify for state; Mason City High has three qualify

WAVERLY — The Clear Lake girls cross country team is heading back to the state meet. The Lions girls finished third at the Class 3A state qualifying meet in Waverly on Wednesday. Mount Vernon-Lisbon won the team title with 47 points, Decorah was second with 89 points, with the Lions third with 98. Clear Lake’s Addison Doughan was the runner-up in the girls race, finishing in a time of 18:53, 22 seconds behind champion Evelyn Moeller of Mount Vernon-Lisbon. The Lions’ Saylor Schmitt also finished in the top ten, placing 7th in a time of 19:32.  Full results here

 

== The Clear Lake boys failed to qualify as a team for the state meet as they finished fourth. Mount Vernon-Lisbon took the boys title with 64 points, Decorah was second with 72 points, while Clear Creek-Amana was third with 76. The Lions were fourth with 148 points. Clear Lake’s Gavin Roske qualified individually for the state meet, placing 13th in a time of 16:37, about a minute-ten behind the champion. Full results here

 

MARSHALLTOWN — Mason City High had two girls and one boy qualify for the state meet from the Class 4A qualifier in Marshalltown on Wednesday. The Mason City High girls finished fifth as a team with 102 points. Ankeny Centennial won the team title with 29 points. For the Riverhawks, senior Janae Hansen finished 12th in a time of 19:37 while junior Brogan Evans ended up 14th with a time of 19:42. Full results here

 

== On the boys side, Mason City finished sixth as a team with 176 points. Norwalk edged Dallas Center-Grimes for the team title 53 to 54. The Riverhawks’ Henry Hansen finished 11th in a time of 16:13 to qualify for the state meet.  Full results here
