No injuries after fire on porch of Mason City home

MASON CITY — No injuries were reported after a porch fire at a Mason City house on Wednesday.
The Mason City Fire Department says they were called shortly after 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon to a report of the back of a house being on fire at 414 1st Southeast.
On arrival, fire crews found light smoke from a fire that was almost extinguished by a neighbor with a garden hose. The fire was located on and next to the doorsteps at the rear of the structure.
Assistant Deputy Chief Randy Elsbernd says the fire did not extend into the building and all occupants evacuated safely without injury.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation
