Shipping container fire at Bushel Boy Farms facility ruled accidental

MASON CITY — A fire outside the Bushel Boy Farms facility last week has been ruled as accidental.
The Mason City Fire Department says they were called at about 1:18 on Thursday afternoon to a fire in a shipping container at the facility at 4660 South Monroe Avenue. On arrival, fire crews found flames inside a container used for storing miscellaneous maintenance items.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but were unsuccessful as the fire grew quickly. The cause of the fire was welding operations being performed outside the container, and it has been ruled accidental and unintentional.
Firefighters were on the scene for about 50 minutes dealing with the blaze.
