St. Ansgar sweeps North Iowa to punch ticket to state volleyball

MASON CITY — St. Ansgar is headed to the state volleyball tournament after a three-set sweep of North Iowa in the Class 1A Region 3 championship match last night held at Mason City High School. The Saints edged the Bison in the first set 25-23, followed by wins of 25-21 and 25-13. Jacey Johnston led the way with seven blocks and four kills while Sophia Urbatsch had 11 digs as St. Ansgar improves to 27-6 on the season. The Saints are the #2 seed in the Class 1A state tournament and will face 7th-seed Janesville in the 1A quarterfinals on Tuesday evening at 6:25. North Iowa ends their season with a record of 27-6.
