Mason City woman receives three-year federal prison sentence on gun charge

MASON CITY — A Mason City woman has been sentenced to over three years in prison on a federal firearms charge.

37-year-old Brittany Graham was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty in June to one count of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms. Graham admitted that in August 2022 she purchased four handguns while being an unlawful user of marijuana.

Evidence shows that Graham had possessed seven handguns since 2018. Other prohibited persons later possessed some of those guns, including a .357 magnum revolver that was seized from a felon in Chicago less than seven months after Graham purchased it.

US District Judge Leonard Strand sentenced Graham to 37 months in prison to be followed by a two-year term of supervised release.
