Election Preview — GHV, West Fork school bond issues, Floyd County EMS levy on ballot today

GARNER — Garner-Hayfield-Ventura school district voters head to the polls today to decide on a $21.4 million bond issue. If approved, the money would be used to provide funds to remodel, repair, improve, furnish and equip its existing elementary/middle school building and its high school, including HVAC improvements, classroom improvements, safety and security upgrades to the high school entry, reconfiguration of the kitchen and enclosure of the courtyard at the high school.
SHEFFIELD — Voters in the West Fork school district will decide on a just under $16.9 million bond issue today. If approved, the funds would be used to provide funds to remodel, repair and improve the HVAC and electrical systems at the Rockwell elementary building as well as the Sheffield middle school and high school building, including related remodeling and improvements. It would also be used to replace roof sections at both facilities, as well as replace horizontal runs of the domestic water system piping at the Sheffield facility, and to add a secure entry at the Sheffield building.
CHARLES CITY — Floyd County voters head to the polls today to decide on an Emergency Medical Services tax levy. If approved, the levy would raise up to $670,000 a year for five years in an effort to create a county-run ambulance service. The money would come from a 69-cents per $1000 assessment on property taxes.
