Latimer man accused of Mason City home burglary pleads not guilty

MASON CITY — A Latimer man accused of burglarizing a Mason City home earlier this year has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say 28-year-old Miguel Calles entered a residence through a window in the 200 block of 1st Southwest in the early morning hours of October 8th with the intent to commit a theft.
A complaint says Calles assaulted a female by slapping her on the face. Calles is accused of taking three cell phones from the victim.
Calles has been charged with second-degree burglary, a Class C felony, as well as domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor. He was due in court for his arraignment hearing Monday but filed a written plea of not guilty to the charges last week.
His trial is scheduled to start on January 14th.
