Visit Mason City hands out awards at their annual meeting

MASON CITY — Visit Mason City held their annual meeting on Thursday where they handed out their annual awards recognizing significant contributors to the growth of Mason City’s tourism industry.
== Terry and Mary Balek were named as the “Friend of Tourism” winner. Presented to an individual who promotes and enhances Mason City tourism, this award celebrates the Baleks for their dedication to showcasing the city’s unique history and attractions through geocaching. Visit Mason City says the Baleks turned a family hobby into a community-centered experience by creating the “Mr. Toot Geocaching Adventure”, which introduces geocachers to the city’s historic landmarks and attractions.

== The Mason City Pickleball Classic was named the winner of this year’s “Tourism Excellence Award”. Held at Iowa’s only outdoor 12-court pickleball complex, the tournament has attracted over 100 teams from nine states, positioning Mason City as a prominent hub for sports tourism.
