Hockey roundup — Mohawks pick up first win, Bulls sweep Watertown, Toros win one of three

MASON CITY — The Mason City High School Hockey Club picked up their first win of the season over the weekend as part of a weekend series split with Kansas City. On Saturday, the Mohawks scored twice in the third period and held on for a 4-3 win. Hudson Carney picked up the game-winning goal with 8:43 left in the third period. Dylan Bieber had two goals and an assist while Alec Servantez also scored for Mason City. On Sunday, Kansas City scored three times in the third period on their way to a 5-2 victory. Bieber and Max Lang had the goals for Mason City. The Mohawks are 1-5-1 on the season and will travel to Fremont Nebraska for a two-game series this weekend. 

 

MASON CITY — The North Iowa Bulls swept a weekend series with Watertown in Mason City over the weekend. The Bulls on Friday received two goals each from Parker Osborn and Davis Higly in a 6-2 win. Four different Bulls scored on Saturday in a 4-2 victory with Cole Wirun leading the way with a goal and an assist. North Iowa is now 9-7 on the season and will travel to Bismarck this weekend

 

MASON CITY — The Mason City Toros had one win in three games played over the weekend. After dropping a 3-2 decision at Willmar on Friday, the Toros bounced back on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Moose in Blaine. Marcus Fritel had a hat trick with all three of his goals in the third period in the win. On Sunday in Mason City, the Toros dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Willmar. Nolan Smith had two of the three Toros goals while Fritel scored the other. Mason City is now 7-7-2-1 and will play a Tuesday morning game at 11:10 AM at the Mason City Arena against the Minnesota Moose.
