Carl Ginapp now holds lead in Cerro Gordo supervisors race after provisional ballots processed, recount to take place

MASON CITY — A new leader has emerged from the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors District 3 race.

On election night, Democratic incumbent Lori Meacham Ginapp held a two-vote lead over Republican challenger Carl Ginapp. A special board convened this morning to review 41 provisional and late arriving absentee ballots.

County Auditor Adam Wedmore says the board decided to accept 29 ballots, with the updated results now showing Carl Ginapp with 3109 votes with Lori Meacham Ginapp two votes behind.

Meacham Ginapp tells NorthIowaNow.com News that she is requesting a recount take place.

In the 2022 election, Meacham Ginapp held a three-vote lead on election night over Don O’Connor, and after a recount, Meacham Ginapp gained a vote while O’Connor lost a vote.
