Strong second half leads Tri-Center over St. Ansgar in Class A semifinals

CEDAR FALLS — A strong offensive push in the second half was too much for St. Ansgar as Tri-Center of Neola downed the Saints 42-14 in the Class A football semifinals at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Thursday, as you heard on 98.7 KISS Country and 987kisscountry.com. Tri-Center had a total of 544 yards gained, 258 on the ground and 286 through the air as the Trojans outscored St. Ansgar 31-6 in the second half. Carter Kunze had 195 yards on the ground and four touchdowns for Tri-Center while AJ Harder was 17-of-24 passing for 286 yards and two touchdown passes to Cael Witt. Korben Michels led St. Ansgar offensively with 192 yards rushing and one touchdown as the Saints end their season with a 10-2 record. Tri-Center advances to face West Hancock in next Thursday’s Class A championship game after the Eagles held off a late charge by Madrid 50-35.
