Ginapp preparing to serve on Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors

MASON CITY — After waiting almost three weeks for the election results to become final, Cerro Gordo County Supervisor-elect Carl Ginapp is now preparing for his first term.
Ginapp held a two-vote lead over incumbent Lori Meacham Ginapp after the results from election night and the review of provisional and late-arriving absentee ballots were tallied. His lead expanded to three votes after a recount was conducted on Friday.
Ginapp says he can now focus on getting ready to serve a four-year term on the Board of Supervisors. “First thing is that I’d like to thank Lori for her two years of service as a supervisor and her service before that working for the county. I respect that and wish her the best in her next venture. I am honored and humbled to be the next supervisor for District 3 and I’m ready to dedicate my time and efforts to what’s best for the county.”
Ginapp says one of his short-term goals when he is sworn in is to fulfill one of his campaign goals to make things more transparent. “I would like to see everything available online for the general public to be able to follow along with agendas and packets to know exactly what’s going on within the county and also being able to view the meeting remotely, either live or delayed, is a high priority for me. That will be something I’m working on when I take office.”
Ginapp recently retired as the deputy chief of the Mason City Fire Department where he worked on budgets. He knows one of the first things he’ll be doing when he takes office is starting review of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget. “The budget process has started and will going into full swing soon. That’s something I specialize in from my past job, and I’m looking forward to seeing exactly how the county does it. Everything’s a little bit different between county and city government, but I’m looking forward to that process and see what we can do with the budget and just be fiscally responsible.”
Ginapp officially takes office after the first of the year. The supervisors will officially certify the results of the recount during a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
