Teri Sheehy, 71, of Mason City

Theresa “Teri” Ann Braun Sheehy, 71, of Mason City passed away November 21 at home with family by
her side.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Hogan Bremer Moore
Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the start
of the service at the chapel.
Teri was born July 20, 1953 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Her family moved to Mason City when she was
young, where she attended St. Joseph Grade School and Newman High School. Teri enjoyed
cheerleading and was crowned Homecoming Queen. She graduated from Newman in 1971 and
maintained many friendships with classmates over the years. Teri furthered her education by
graduating from the nursing program at NIACC and worked as an LPN in Mason City for more than 40
years.
Teri met her loving husband, John, in 1970. They married in 1974. In the early years, they had fun
playing on local volleyball and softball teams, bike riding and other outdoor activities and spending time
with family and friends. A few years after being married, they started a family. They had two daughters,
Sara and Amy, who they loved and supported unconditionally. John and Teri were happily married for
50 years.
Teri had a variety of hobbies through the years. She entertained people of all ages as “Sunshine the
Clown” at birthday parties and parades, as well as taught classes at MacNider Art Museum. She and
John were avid card players and were part of many card clubs with close friends. In later years, Teri and
John traveled with family, exploring places such as Hawaii, Sanibel Island, and Turks & Caicos.
Teri was proud to be a 33-year cancer survivor (leukemia), having received a bone marrow transplant in
1991. She and John actively participated in Relay for Life events for more than 20 years.
Teri will be greatly missed by her husband, John; daughter Sara (Michael) Gallentine of Clearwater
Beach, FL.; granddaughters Peyton and Kennedy Gallentine; brothers and sisters, Steve (Jean) Braun of
Rochester, MN; Lynn (Pat) Walters of Johnston, IA; David (Dawn) Braun of Mason City; Lisa (Roger)
Schinagel of Mason city; brother-in-law of Tom (Deb) Sheehy of Waukee; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Sheehy; parents, John and Ginger Braun; and her
father and mother-in-law, James and Esther Sheehy.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Teri’s name be made to Newman Catholic School
Foundation, Epiphany Parish or the charity of your choice.
