Charles City man pleads not guilty to sexual abuse

CHARLES CITY — A Charles City man has pleaded not guilty to a sexual abuse charge.
38-year-old Randy McFarland is accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 10 between July and September 2024 at his residence. McFarland was arrested by Charles City police earlier this month after the child was interviewed by authorities last month at the Allen Child Protection Center in Waterloo as part of their investigation.
McFarland has been charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
McFarland entered a written plea of not guilty on Monday in Floyd County District Court. His trial is scheduled to start on March 4th.
