Clear Lake officially declared “iced-in
CLEAR LAKE — The cold weather over the holiday weekend has resulted in Clear Lake being officially declared as iced-in.
Clear Lake Water Superintendent Adam Theiss made the official declaration on Saturday morning. The lake is officially declared iced-in when there is no open water on the lake. The lake was officially declared iced-in on November 28th of last year. The earliest iced-in date according to Clear Lake records was November 4th back in 1991 with the latest being December 24th in 2001.
This past spring the lake was declared “ice out” on March 3rd, the earliest it had ever happened, breaking the old record of March 5th 1931.
