Dennis C. Hartwig, 73 of Mason City

Dennis C. Hartwig, 73 of Mason City passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the IOOF Home in Mason City.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Monday, December 9, 2024 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401.
He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Linda, at Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs, IA.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Dennis Craig was born December 17, 1950 in Nora Springs, IA the son of Herbert DeVere and Gloria (Jost) Hartwig. He grew up in Nora Springs, graduating from Nora Springs High School. Dennis later continued his education at North Iowa Area Community College. On October 20, 1970 he married the love of his life, Linda Kay McManus at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Nora Springs. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Angela and Amber. The family made their home in Nora Springs where Dennis farmed and cared for many animals. In the 80’s the family moved to Mason City where Dennis worked various jobs until his retirement in 2013.
Dennis was a quiet, reserved man with a heart full of love that he expressed through actions rather than words. A talented woodworker, he found great joy in building thoughtful creations for his wife and family, each piece crafted with care and purpose. Dennis had a special bond with animals, sharing his life with countless beloved pets over the years. He treated them like royalty, ensuring they were as loved and cherished as any family member. His gentle nature and quiet strength were constants in the lives of those who knew and loved him, leaving a legacy of kindness and devotion.
Those left to cherish Dennis’ memory are his daughter, Angela (Joe) Malfero of Mason City; grandchildren, Cody, Taylor (Nick Lamb), Carter and Spencer Bublitz, and Alica and Michael Adams;great-grandchildren, Noah, Conner, Ella, River, Ryder and Oaklee; siblings, Debbie Tozier and Daryl ( Rene) Hartwig; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Those greeting him at Heaven’s gate are his beloved wife, Linda; daughter, Amber Hartwig; great-grandson, Bryton Thompson; and parents, Herbert and Gloria.
