High school basketball roundup — Meyer scores 20 as Clear Lake wins season opener

CHARLES CITY — Thomas Meyer scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half as the Clear Lake boys basketball team beat Charles City 66-52 on Thursday night, as you heard on 103.7 The Fox and saw here on northiowanow.com. Meyer got into foul trouble in the first half but responded in the second 16 minutes, scoring 10 points in the final quarter as the Lions outscored the Comets 38-21 in the second half after trailing 31-28 at halftime. Jackson McIntire had 13 and Titan Schmitt added 10 for Clear Lake, as the Lions travel up to the Twin Cities on Saturday to face Hiawatha Collegiate charter school, with the pre-game at about 12:45 and the tipoff scheduled for 1 o’clock.
