It’s official — Forest City, GHV, Eagle Grove welcomed into North Central Conference

CLEAR LAKE — The North Central Conference Friday night officially announced the addition of Eagle Grove, Forest City, and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura into the conference after the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. The conference also announced that Charles City will now join the conference earlier than planned, beginning in the 2026-27 school year.

A press release says the NCC Executive Board believes the new member schools will bring enhanced stability, improved competitive balance and expanded opportunities for recognizing students’ achievements across academics, fine arts, student activities and athletics.

The North Central Conference will evolve into a 12-team conference, utilizing division for specific athletic programs based on enrollment. Those divisions will be restructured every four years based on new enrollment. Additionally, any school petitioning to join the NCC will initially be placed in the Tradition Division, which will be the larger schools division, while current member schools will retain the flexibility to transition between the Tradition and Pride Divisions before new members are integrated.

Based on an enrollment average for the last three school years, the larger-school Tradition Division will include Clear Lake, Algona, Charles City, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt and Webster City; while the smaller-school Pride Division will include Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Eagle Grove, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
