Christmas Cheer Fund at $79,000 of it’s $100,000 goal

MASON CITY — About 2000 families in north-central Iowa will be receiving a bit of holiday spirit from the Christmas Cheer Fund this year. The application process has been completed, but work continues to complete the fundraising process to achieve this year’s goal of $100,000.

Cheer Fund board member Ozzie Ohl says just over $79,000 has been raised so far with the help of a special donation from an area foundation.  “The Kinney Lindstrom Foundation, that $25,000 challenge match really sparked and helped grow the Christmas Cheer Fund, so we’re so grateful to the Kinney Lindstrom Foundation for realizing the importance of the Christmas Cheer Fund and stepping up and challenging others to meet that need, so that’s been a huge help. We’ve also had a couple of other foundations that have come through, the Weitzel Foundation from Clear Lake and the Nelson Foundation from Clear Lake.”

Ohl says while the goal is within reach they are asking for help to push them across the finish line.  “If you want to make a donation, you can still put that donation in the mail: Christmas Cheer Fund, Post Office Box 28, Mason City, Iowa, 50402. You can also go online with a credit card or use PayPal and go to christmascheerfund.org. You can do it on our website, you can go to our Facebook page, and that would be a huge help. We really want to make that $100,000 this year.”
